Dorothy Gale - Age 18-25, (Mezzo/Mix) Needs to have a strong singing voice and some dance ability.
The Scarecrow - Age 18-40, (Strong Baritone). Needs to be very flexible and must have dance experience.
Tin-Man - Age 18-40, (Strong Baritone), Light choreography.
Cowardly Lion - 18-40, (Strong Baritone), Light choreography.
Glinda, The Good Witch - 25+, (Mezzo/Soprano) Non-Dancing Role.
Aunt Em (Might be combined with Glinda) 50+, Non-Singing, non-dancing Role.
Miss Gultch/Wicked Witch - 25+, Some singing, Non-Dancing Role.
Professor Marvel/Wizard of Oz - 40+, Comedic, Non-Singing, Non-Dancing Role.
Uncle Henry (Might be combined with Oz Guard) - 50+, Non-Singing, Non-Dancing Role.
Jitterbug - 18+, Featured Non-Singing Role, should be a strong dancer with a lot of personality.
Ensemble - 12-18+, (Some age exceptions may be made) Various Singing and Non-Singing, Speaking and Non-Speaking Roles. These vary from talking trees, Munchkins, Flying Monkeys, to Winkie Soldiers and Citizens of Oz . 6 male and 6 female.
We’re off to see THE WIZARD OF OZ at Theater 29! Add a little fantasy and adventure to our beautiful desert Spring with a trip to the Emerald City to see Dorothy, Toto and the rest of the colorful residents of Oz. Imaginatively reproduced for The Theatre 29 stage, this classic tale is sure to delight fans both old and young. Based on the hit MGM film, THE WIZARD OF OZ brings out the children all of us with songs like “Somewhere Over the Rainbow,” and “We’re Off to See the Wizard.” Directed by Gary Daigneault with Music Direction by Bill Barrett and Choreography by Sarah Fleischman. Performances March 2-25, 2018 (May holdover to April 1) Friday & Saturday Evenings at 7:00 pm Sundays at 2:30 pm Rehearsals weekday evenings 6-9, January 16 – March 1, 2018 No appointment is necessary. Be prepared to sing approximately one minute of a Broadway or Disney song of your choice (no songs from this musical). Please bring a CD or portable music player with your background track for the audition. No Acapella singing please. There will be a short movement audition so please dress appropriately. You will also be asked to read from the script. Bring known conflicts for the period January 16 – April 1, 2018 (In case of holdover). Cast members do not have to be the actual ages of the characters, but must be able to look age appropriate and act accordingly. Some children will be cast, be sure they are fully prepared for the Audition process. Questions? The cast will consist of approximately 22 actors and actresses, ages 12 and older (some exceptions may be made).
