Dear Producing Members,

I hope you all are doing well and looking forward to the 2024 to 2025 Season.  I have attached a copy of the DTL's Producing Member's Ballot Instructions for the 2024 to 2025 Season (PDF format) and have also posted it in the Judging section on DTL's website (DesertTheatreLeague.org).  If you have trouble opening the document, I can send it to you in a WORD format.

Please send me a copy of your upcoming season so that I have it for judging scheduling and it can also be listed on the DTL Calendar Section of our website.

Changes for this season include:

Membership and Judging:

A Producing Member’s productions will not be judged until 30 days after payment of their Annual Dues.  Judges will not be sent to productions unless dues have been fully paid.

Individual Ballot Nominations – One Acts/Short Plays:

A scene or collection of scenes from a play will not be eligible to be judged.

Overall Production:

If a Producing Member uses a Ballot that has a professional director and half or more of the nominated cast consist of professional actors, not including the “Outstanding Juvenile” category, the production will be judged in the professional production category for “Overall Production.” This rule only affects the "Overall Production" category and does not apply to Youth and Ballet productions. 

Also, please review the instruction concerning the Professional Designation.  Most importantly, a person should be considered a professional if they have or ever have been a member in good standing of any Theatrical Union, including, but not limited to Actors Equity Association (AEA), SAG/AFTRA, AGVA, ASCAP, IATSE, etc.  Being presently retired does not erase a prior membership in a Theatrical Union.  Also, non-union Performers / Technicians / Creatives who derive a significant amount of their income through union and/or non-union theatre work plying their trade are also considered in the "Professional" category.
